Shounen Onmyouji (少年陰陽師) is a light novel authored by Mitsuru Yūki and illustrated by Sakura Asagi. The novel is currently serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's The Beans with 39 volumes, inclusive of four short stories compilation and one gaiden. A manga acting as a gaiden is being serialized in Beans Ace.
A franchise spinning a series of drama CDs, a PlayStation 2 game, a manga adaptation and a musical are also available. In August 2006, an anime adaptation was announced. It was going to be animated by Studio Deen and the character design was to be done by Shinobu Tagashira. It began its broadcast on October 3, 2006. The anime premiered on Animax under the title of Shōnen Onmyoji: The Young Spirit Master and was aired across its respective networks worldwide, including Hong Kong, Taiwan and other English language networks in Southeast Asia, South Asia, and other regions with its translations and dubbed versions.

Abe no Masahiro is the main character of the Shounen Onmyouji light novel series. He is the grandson of the legendary Abe no Seimei and he is an Onmyouji in training. When he was young, his spiritual power was so strong that Seimei had to seal it temporarily. (Read More)	Abe no Masahiro was voted 16th most popular character in the Animage Grand Prix. According to an interview with Mitsuri-Sensei regarding the design of the Twelve Shinshou, apart from their actual real names, everything else about these characters were made up for the story. The series is currently ongoing.	A Shounen Onmyouji 10th Anniversary Campaign held in 2012, featured 3 specials: A new chapter of the story (現代版) is welcomed The results of the Character Popularity Poll (see poll section) held during July to August was released. A total of 4600 votes were collected. The results are posted on Kadokawa's site though. A Q&A segment featuring Mitsuri Yuki Sensei regarding the books, the author's take and her preference subjects in characters. It is a long interview.
